4th Annual Big Peach Storms The Beach Party with CANDLEBOX

Candlebox at Capt'n Fun Beach Club on Pensacola Beach

The Biggest Spring Party on the Gulf Coast!
Featuring A Live Performance by CANDLEBOX!
Saturday, April 7th, 2012 @ CAPT'N FUN BEACH CLUB

My Favorite Sin has been responsible for some of the largest parties that Pensacola has seen over the past decade (including several hosted as armada Magazine) and the 2012 Big Peach Storms The Beach will be no exception! This time, Atlanta's top nightclub promoters are traveling to the beach to bring their special blend of chaos and drunken debauchery!

This year, our headliner is the world famous CANDLEBOX who have produced chart breaking hits like You and Far Behind. Don't miss this live performance by a band that cut it's teeth and met multi-platinum success in the Seattle grunge scene of the 1990's. In 1992, they recorded their first demo, which they raised money for by selling most of their stuff. They went on to perform private shows for record labels and in 1993, they released their first cd, cleverly titled "Candlebox," on Maverick Records. They spent the next two years touring almost nonstop. In 1995, they released their second cd, Lucy. In 1997, Scott left the band. He was replaced by former Pearl Jam drummer, Dave Krusen. The third cd, Happy Pills, was released on July 21st, 1998. Now they arrive on Pensacola Beach for the Sprong Break highlight concert of 2012!

Capt'n Fun Beach Club is positioned right on the Gulf of Mexico in the heart of Pensacola Beach’s world famous Quietwater Beach Boardwalk and has recovered from the devastation of Hurricane Ivan. As the largest open-air nightclub on the Emerald Coast, Capt'n Fun Beach Club is often the host to some of top touring talent in the Southeast!

Candlebox rode the grunge bandwagon to multi-platinum success in the early '90s. Candlebox's take on grunge diluted the punk and indie elements inherent in its original form; instead, they were rooted in the bluesy, classic-style hard rock that grunge had ostensibly replaced. Candlebox unwittingly helped usher in the post-grunge era; along with Bush, they showed how the more challenging aspects of grunge could be ironed out and polished into a sound that mainstream rock radio could embrace without reservation.

Candlebox was formed in Seattle in December 1991 by singer/guitarist Kevin Martin, a native of Elgin, IL, who'd grown up partly in San Antonio, and drummer Scott Mercado. Initially calling the band Uncle Duke, they added lead guitarist Peter Klett and bassist Bardi Martin (no relation to Kevin) and changed the group's name to Candlebox, after a line in a Midnight Oil song. Their demo tape found its way to Madonna's Maverick label, which quickly resulted in a record deal in 1992. Candlebox's self-titled debut was released in 1993, and while the first single, "Change," began to build them a following, it wasn't until 1994, when the follow-up, "You," appeared, that the group really started to take off. "You" gave them a breakthrough hit on mainstream rock radio, which set the stage for the success of "Far Behind," essentially a power ballad for the grunge era. "Far Behind" was a major hit on both mainstream and alternative radio, and also made the pop Top 20; its exposure helped Candlebox climb into the Top Ten on the LP chart and eventually sell over three million copies.

Don't miss the chance to see these 90's music pioneers live in concert at Capt'n Fun Beach Club on Pensacola Beach with My Favorite Sin!
