Who Is MPH? Meet the UK Garage DJ Coming to District Atlanta
A little swing, a lot of bass, and a Friday night at District. Start with the music before MPH comes to Atlanta.
Friday's District booking comes with a good reason to take a detour through UK garage. MPH is bringing a catalog that moves between melody, bouncing drums and heavier bass music to Atlanta on October 9. If the name is new to you, a few records tell the story better than a list of festival appearances.
The UK-based DJ and producer identifies his sound as UKG and bass. Garage is the starting point; the appeal is how much room he finds around it.
From DJ EZ inspiration to his own lane
MPH is Myles Fairbairn, a Canterbury-born DJ and producer. In a MusicRadar interview, he credits watching DJ EZ with inspiring him to start DJing, with production following later. Garage's tempo, swing and melodic-to-gritty range are part of the attraction.
Think of swing as the bounce around the beat: the drums leave little gaps and keep the rhythm moving. You don't need to study the genre's family tree to follow that feeling. For MPH, it also leaves space for hooks and bass that can pull a track in different directions.
His 2024 album Refraction makes that range concrete. Night Bass describes a 15-track record reaching from UK garage into jungle, deep house and bass house. MPH connects its darker bass tracks with urban imagery and its softer garage side with rural landscapes and sunsets. That contrast is a useful way into his music: start with the bounce, then follow where it goes.
Four places to start listening
MPH & Skrillex — “Mirage.” Start with a recent collaboration. The official release link puts MPH alongside Skrillex; it gives you a current entry point before working backward through his solo catalog.
MPH — “Funk Master.” For the bounce, try this Night Bass release. The label's introduction describes a classical opening that gives way to bass and drums. Listen for the shift between the opening idea and the dance-floor rhythm: it's a clear example of why one genre tag won't tell you everything.
MPH — “Unconditional.” Move to a solo record on MPH's own SoundCloud, where he tags it UKG. Play it beside the collaborations and notice what carries across: which rhythm or hook makes you want to stay with the track? That comparison is a more useful introduction than treating his biggest collaboration as his entire sound.
MPH Presents: Crash & Burn — UKF On Air. Give the DJ format some room with UKF's official 2023 mix, presented around his Overrated release. A longer set lets you follow transitions and pacing beyond a single track. It's an earlier listening reference, rather than a preview of the Atlanta set list.
Friday, October 9: MPH at District
The official promoter listing places MPH at District Atlanta, 269 Armour Drive NE, on Friday, October 9, 2026. Liquified & Collectiv Presents are presenting the night. Doors are listed at 10 p.m., with admission for ages 21 and older.
District gives this music a bigger room: overhead production, a main dance floor and space to look across it. Our Room Report introduces that setting. Come for the artist, then decide where you want to be when the rhythm takes over.
