Atlanta Pride gives this weekend its center of gravity, but there's more than one way into it. You can dance inside an aquarium, follow a local queer party to Ponce, hear French jazz-funk at the Goat Farm, or spend Friday with a UK garage artist at District.

Welcome to The Sin List: our weekly selection of nights worth knowing about. These seven picks each bring something specific to the weekend, from a room you wouldn't expect to an artist worth hearing before you leave the house.

1. Cortex with Adrian Younge & J.Rocc

Thursday, October 8 · 7 p.m. · Goat Farm · All ages

Cortex brings French psychedelic jazz-funk to the Goat Farm, with Adrian Younge and J.Rocc on the bill. The official Jazz Is Dead tour announcement connects the group's Troupeau Bleu to the hip-hop producers who sampled it, including MF DOOM and Madlib.

Why it's on the list: This is the live-music detour for people who follow beats as closely as bands. Hearing the group behind those source records puts a different kind of musical history in the room, while this bill makes the connection to contemporary beat culture explicit.

2. Pride Kickoff at Georgia Aquarium

Friday, October 9 · 7–11 p.m. · Georgia Aquarium · General admission 18+

The aquarium's official Pride Kickoff brings Russ Rich, TDON and Seth Breezy into an after-hours setting where the galleries become part of the party.

Why it's on the list: The setting does the work. A DJ night surrounded by aquarium galleries gives your group a different visual world to move through. Atlanta's TDON also gives the lineup a local connection alongside the touring names.

The separate 21+ lounge is listed as sold out as of our October 5 check. Its GOONZ set is not part of general admission; check the current ticket details before planning around that area.

3. MPH at District

Friday, October 9 · Doors 10 p.m. · District Atlanta · 21+

District's Friday booking is a UK garage entry point with room for heavier bass music. MPH's catalog moves between those sounds; his Refraction album and recent Skrillex collaboration, “Mirage,” give you two places to begin.

Why it's on the list: We're following the artist as much as the room. The contrast between softer garage and darker bass tracks makes MPH an interesting booking to build a Friday around. Our Before the First Drop profile gives you four official listening picks before you commit.

4. HAWT SAUCE! at Drunken Unicorn

Friday, October 9 · Friday night; confirm doors with the organizer · Drunken Unicorn · 21+

Southern Fried Queer Pride's HAWT SAUCE! pairs DJ sets from Aasha Adore, Gorp and Jagu4r with performances including Ivy Fischer, Drew Friday and TAYLOR ALXNDR.

Why it's on the list: This is a locally organized Pride party where the performers are part of the draw. SFQP's focus on Black queer and QTPOC arts gives the night a community context, and the combination of DJs and performance offers more to follow than a headliner alone.

The organizer's calendar lists 10 p.m., while its event copy says doors and music at 9 p.m. Confirm the starting time directly before heading to 736 Ponce De Leon Avenue NE.

5. Candela: Aria Vega's Cariavales Tour

Saturday, October 10 · Doors 10 p.m. · District Atlanta · 21+

District changes musical direction on Saturday with Aria Vega's Cariavales Tour. The venue's announcement introduces the Barranquilla artist through Afro-Caribbean rhythms and urban music, citing songs including “Agua e' Panela,” “Ay Mamá” and “Chévere.”

Why it's on the list: Her Caribbean musical identity gives this Candela edition a specific artist story. It's a reason to choose Saturday on its own terms, even if you already know District from its electronic bookings.

6. Sync System / Bully at MJQ

Saturday, October 10 · 11 p.m. · MJQ Concourse, Underground Atlanta · 21+

MJQ's Saturday program puts Kashii in the main room and French DJ Skooter's Bully in the Terminal. The advertised Bully mix crosses hip-hop, reggae, drum and bass, house, disco, baile funk and soul.

Why it's on the list: Two rooms give a mixed-taste group something to work with. Skooter's history as a longtime MJQ resident also puts continuity with the club's earlier years inside its Underground Atlanta chapter.

7. SWEET TEA! at Atlanta Pride

Sunday, October 11 · 5–7 p.m. · Piedmont Park Community Stage · Free, all ages

TAYLOR ALXNDR hosts Southern Fried Queer Pride's SWEET TEA! variety show, with DJ sets from La Cochino and a lineup including Evie Noir, Yutoya Avaze Leon and Deaven Black Magic. Find the Community Stage on Oak Hill, near the park's 10th Street entrance.

Why it's on the list: A performance-led Sunday finish rounds out a weekend heavy on late-night dance floors. It's also a free way into the list, with a named show and stage to aim for. The organizer lists all ages and advises audience discretion.
